Films to Draw Inspiration from while Renovating Your Place

Different. Different is the word we root for. It takes big hearts and some uptight skills to achieve it. Not all of them do. Bollywood and Hollywood makes it more difficult when they set the bar kind of high. Interiors are no exception.

Let’s look at a few movies to draw some inspiration from while you restyle your home.

The Devil Wears Prada

The devil, Miranda, being the perfectionist she is, there is no detail too small for her. Her office has one of the most iconic gallery walls filled with perfectly-spaced, modern paintings and mirrors. Just like the perfect devil, a perfect wall.

The Great Gatsby

Apart from all Gatsby’s glamorous parties, there’s one more glamorous sight that you might never miss. With the long dining table and every inch of that room, overlooking the bay speaking of twentieth century’s glamour doesn’t blaze you with inspiration, I don’t know what will.

Fifty Shades of Grey

We all remember the rich guy and his larger-than-life house. With a breathtaking view of Seattle’s skyline, the rich, high-value colours, statement pieces, a piano, the couch, the warm light coming from the chandelier and penlights and everything that the great room encompasses is aligned with its mood- cosy and intimate.

Sex and the City

“You live in a house like this, what is there to fight about?”

If there’s a movie of a man’s understanding of a woman’s best places, that’s Sex and the City. I’m sure of those wide-eyed looks when Mr Big surprises Carrie Bradshaw with a bigger-than-a-room closet. That’s some real piece of inspiration one has to look at!

Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky

There is one theme that came to say something and it stayed. Forever and never out of style. The black and white theme never gets old, never out of fashion. Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky and 500 Days of Summer are the best films to draw the best inspiration from when it comes to the most iconic theme ever.

Wolf of the Wall Street

As they say, pink is the new black. The room filled with the pinkish shade in every piece it owns is a sure shot for that pink-fan little girl. And not to mention, the Pink Lady of Hollywood, Kitten Key Sera, a 56-year old who even has her hair dyed pink is a source of some great pink inspiration in all the pinkish hues.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Minimalism has never been a more utilitarian concept than in this neverending consumerism era. Less is more and the white space, the negative space speaks more about the person in the house than does those expensive interior pieces.

Devdas

Big and long curtains and drapes have always meant a high-class luxury in Bollywood films, be it Devdas, Bajirao Mastani, Saawariya or Guzaarish. Those big curtains hid beauties, encapsulated them and gave it a life every time the wind passed through it.

Wake Up Sid

Wake Up Sid is a perfect example of however filthy a place is, the beholder can always make it look beautiful with mindful restyling techniques. The hanging birds, photographs, wall decals and lightings turn the messy room into a beautiful place for a mug of coffee and a book.

Bollywood and Hollywood has always been a place to go for inspiration when it comes to fashion and architecture. The popular themes of Harry Potter, Barbie, Princess, Batman never escapes a child’s mind.
